The Wake 6560 Evolution. The 5th iteration of the Wake series and the biggest leap in performance we've ever made. Faster. Lighter. Stiffer.
Description
The Princeton CarbonWorks Wake 6560 was developed in 2012 and the first ride models were completed in 2015.
Since then, there have been 4 iterations of our flagship model, each offering improvements in aerodynamic performance and efficiency, weight, stiffness, responsiveness and quality.
A unique and balanced combination of features has made the Wake 6560 the wheel for those seeking top performance: aerodynamically faster than deeper wheels, lighter and better handling than shallower wheels, yet stiff, responsive and lively under power. And now, in its fifth generation, the legend continues to evolve.
The Wake 6560 Evolution is the second wheelset in our Evolution series after the Alta 3532 and represents a revolutionary new shape. Extensive testing and development has resulted in a wheelset that is even more efficient than its predecessor, the Wake 6560 Strada. Even more impressive, the new Wake 6560 Evolution represents the biggest leap in performance from one version to the next of any iteration of the Wake series.
The shape of the Wake 6560 is instantly recognizable compared to previous versions and has changed dramatically. Our new Evolution profile combines alternating deep and shallow rim sections with alternating spoke sides. Mechanically, this allows the steeper spokes with high tension (the rear spokes on the drive side and the front spokes on the disk side) to be connected to a deeper rim section, flattening these spoke angles. The change in stiffening angle helps to equalize spoke tension, resulting in a stiffer, more consistent wheel. This patented technology, Radially Staggered Lacing, is exclusive to Princeton CarbonWorks road wheels.
The Wake 6560 Evolution is also even wider and lighter than its predecessor. The increased width (21 mm inside, maximum 28.2 mm outside) is optimized for the 25-28 mm wide tires currently used by professional racers. The result is a wheel with even better aerodynamic efficiency at all yaw angles and better composure in difficult crosswinds. The rim weight has been reduced by 10 g per rim, which is supported by the overall shorter cable length of the inner rim. The rim brake and hooks are retained. Ride how you want, with what you want. Rim brake rims will always be available, and the Wake 6560 Evolution will continue to have a hookless tubeless tire bed that can accommodate clincher or tubeless tires with no tape and no tire pressure restrictions.
