Exceptional handling. Ultra-lightweight. King of the mountains.
The Peak 4550 Evolution is still available in all configurations for every road cyclist and every bike: for clincher and tubeless tires, disc brakes and rim brakes.
The development priorities were to improve the already exceptional aerodynamic properties, strength and stiffness of the previous generation Peak 4550. The next evolution of a wheelset that is light, responsive and fast accelerating for the climbs. On the descents, a wheelset that is predictable and offers sharp handling. And in the valleys: a wheelset that is aerodynamic and insensitive to crosswinds.
Description
Following on from the improvements of the Wake 6560 Evolution and the Alta 3532, the Peak 4550 Evolution raises the bar once again.
The inner rim width has been increased to 21 mm inside (28.2 mm outside), while the rim weight has been reduced to 420 g. Stiffness and balance have been increased thanks to our patented radially offset spoking, and aerodynamic efficiency has also been improved.
The Peak 4550 Evolution now has a similar graphic design to the Wake 6560 Evolution, which promotes harmony in staggered Peak/Wake sets.
The Peak 4550 Evolution continues to feature a hookless tubeless tire bed that can accommodate both clincher and tubeless tires without the need for a band or restricting tire pressure. Competing hookless rims, while cheaper to manufacture and lighter in weight, have proven to be problematic and potentially dangerous, especially in terms of tire selection and tire pressure limits. Princeton CarbonWorks still firmly believes that a hookless rim is the safest and fastest solution for road riding and racing.
An additional valve nut stop makes setting up the wheel even easier. Rim brake and tubular tire beds for disc and rim brakes will also be available.
All wheels will be supplied with Sapim CX-Ray spokes, with a choice of White Industries, DT Swiss, Chris King and Tactic Racing hubs available.
As with the Wake 6560 Evolution, 10 color and finish options are available.

PCW's standard undrilled tire bed allows for a stiffer outer rim and shifts some material from the tire bed to other critical areas of the wheel, helping to keep wheel weight low while maintaining high stiffness values.
