The SES 3.4 AR is the embodiment of the modern disc-brake-only road bike. Aerodynamically optimized for high-volume tires (28-32 mm), lightweight for long days in the mountains, high-volume for all roads and arguably the most versatile wheelset we've ever made.
In 2016, we launched the SES 4.5 AR, a wheelset that was ahead of its time. Since then, road riders, frame and tire manufacturers have captured the Vision of high volume that has made the 4.5 AR our best-selling wheelset in North America, where the 4.5 AR has received the most traction in high volume for all road riding. With more and more bikes being developed to accommodate tire clearances of up to 32mm, we saw the need to develop a more versatile, climbing-friendly SES AR wheelset, and the SES 3.4 AR was born.

The SES 3.4 AR is the definitive modern road wheelset and is aerodynamically optimized to maximize drag when paired with high volume 28mm to 32mm tubeless compatible road tires. While the frontal area is slightly increased with these wider tires, the rolling resistance coefficient is reduced to a level that more than counteracts the loss in aero efficiency caused by the dimensions of the wheel and tire combination. Like all SES wheelsets, the SES 3.4 AR has been developed based on real-world performance data and optimized at speeds of up to 32 km/h to ensure that aero efficiency is achieved by riders of all abilities. The SES 3.4 AR features a special full carbon fiber disc brake construction to maximize weight savings, making it an excellent choice for riders looking for a capable climbing bike. As a result, the SES 3.4 AR is the lightest road bike on the market in its category. Since the wheel is intended for mountain and mixed-surface riding on high-volume tires, riders looking for more confidence on technical descents will find their solution with the SES 3.4 AR. The additional tire volume means more traction, providing confidence on a wide variety of road surfaces. To further ensure mixed and all-road performance, the SES 3.4 AR has been optimized for tubeless performance on the road and features a hookless bead design that allows for the precise rim dimensions needed to achieve the best tubeless performance. To increase tubeless tire and rim reliability, the full carbon wheelset features ENVE 's patent-pending wide hookless bead, a design element on the leading edge of the rim that provides a surface that reduces the likelihood of flattening a tubeless tire in the event of an impact. With these features and an inner rim width of 25 mm, the SES 3.4 AR can also be used with tires wider than 32 mm, which are used in mixed surface road events like the Belgian Waffle Ride or even on gravel like Dirty Kanza when aerodynamics take precedence.
We have designed this bike to be used with at least 28c tires that are approved for tubeless use, regardless of whether you use tubes or sealant. Below you will find a list of approved tires that provide the best aerodynamics and safety in combination with the 3.4 AR.
