The new S5
Cervélo is known for its dedication to aerodynamics and relentless pursuit of speed.
relentless pursuit of speed. Since the development of the Soloist in the
early eighties, we have redefined what an aero bike can be.
can be. The new S5 continues on this path and is an example of our mission to make riders faster.

You will recognize larger surfaces on the new S5 frame, and we have

new fork design helps us to simplify the front and cockpit.
simpler design. We have also given the S5 greater
tire clearance to make room for the new Reserve 52/63 wheelset, which was
developed in co-creation with us to bring an even faster bike to the road.
faster bike on the road. Overall, we have reduced the
drag of the new S5 by 65 grams and increased the surface area of the frame
of the frame while reducing the weight of the bike.
It's easier, faster and lighter to ride than before.

S5Simplify
In the search for speed, everyone wants a different position,
a longer stem or a more aggressive adjustment - these changes were
these changes were relatively time-consuming on the previous S5. With the
new model, it's as simple as changing a new stem. All
required spacers are included and there is only one bolt length
one screw length instead of the previous height-dependent screws.
The handlebars are easier to attach and can be rotated by up to 5 degrees
to adjust the fit optimally. By reducing the
complexity, the system has also become 53 g lighter.

S5Refining
We have improved the comfort of the handlebars and optimized the shape to create a perfect achen
transition between the handlebars and brake levers. Instead of the washers of the previous
S5 handlebars, we have designed a mounting with two bolts that allows infinitely variable adjustment
the inclination between 0 and 5 degrees. Biketter at all levels move away from
seatposts with larger offsets, and the new S5 comes in most sizes
comes with a 15 mm offset seatpost in most sizes (compared to 25 mm offset on the
previous S5). The old S5 seatposts are compatible, and we are
retain the 400 mm length. For those looking for a more extreme
fit, the 25 mm offset seatpost will still be available.
will still be available.

S5Improve
The new UCI regulations for aerodynamic design have given us additional scope to sharpen our
aero prole and get some more performance out of what is already the fastest aero bike on the market.
on the market. You'll notice a more tapered head tube and a slimmer bottom bracket area, as well as more aggressive
shaping on the trailing edges of the tubes. Since the new S5 is only compatible with electronic shifting
we were able to tidy up the dropout a bit and update the shaping on the entire bike.

Tire clearance
Wider rims and tires are aerodynamically faster and more comfortable. The S5
offers space for a (measured) 34 mm tire and is designed for the new, wider
reserve wheels with 28 mm tires. These wheels, which were developed under Turbulent
Aero aspects, save just over 5 watts.

Turbulent what?
S5
The real advantage of Turbulent Aero is the behavior of the wheel in - you guessed it
guessed it - turbulence. In other words, how the bike feels under different wind
feel under different wind conditions, which can occur at times. Reserve and
Reserve and Cervélo have put their heads together and developed a rim shape that
the wind flow more harmoniously at larger yaw angles. From a riding point of view
this rim shape feels more stable, fuller and more comfortable. It requires less
input and attention on the handlebars and increases your confidence in the S5. You ride
faster because you feel more comfortable while riding faster. The Reserve 52/63
wheelset is 50 g faster in laminar (traditional) flow and 54 g faster in turbulent
turbulent flow 54 g faster than the previous Reserve 50/65 combination.
